CITY:  KIRK REQUIST REPORTED THAT FRIENDS DID RECEIVE GRANT MONEY AND ARE WAITING TO HEAR FROM 2 OTHER GRANTS YET.   GOING TO BE LOTS OF DISCUSSION WITH FRIENDS REPRESENTATIVES AT MONDAY MAY 14TH COUNCIL MEETING.  YOU ARE CERTAINLY INVITED TO ATTEND.
ARE GOING TO REPAINT THE COFFEE CUP WATER TOWER.
NEW TOWN SUBSTATION BY THE CARE CENTER.
CEMENT FOR WALKING TRAIL POURED BY WISTROM’S.
 
LEGION:  
ROSIE REPORTED BISCUIT & GRAVY FUNDRAISER WAS OKAY.  NOT AS BIG A CROWD BUT DID GET DONATIONS IN AFTERWARDS.
MEMORIAL DAY CELEBRATION 10AM AT SCHOOL ON THE 28TH.  PASTOR JERRY WILL BE THE SPEAKER.
BASEBALL DAY IS JUNE 16TH.  HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS & BOYS TEAMS WILL NOT BE ABLE TO PLAY AND THE TOWN TEAM IS NO LONGER SO………..
ROSIE IS GOING TO BECOME THE DISTRICT COMMANDER IN JULY – CONGRATULATIONS!
 
HALLAND VILLAGE:  ONE 2 BEDROOM APARTMENT AVAILABLE ACCORDING TO HAROLD CLARK.
 
COVENANT CHURCH:  HAROLD REPORTED THEY HAVE HAD 2 MISSIONARIES HERE SO HAVE BEEN BUSY WITH THAT.
HAD “BLESSINGS OF THE SEEDS” EVENT THAT WAS VERY SUCCESSFUL
COVENANT CHURCH AND LUTHERAN CHURCH WORKING TOGETHER AGAIN THIS YEAR TO PRESENT BIBLE SCHOOL.
HAROLD INVITED EVERYONE TO ATTEND NEXT YEARS “NATIONAL DAY OF PRAYER” HELD AT THE RED COACH IN RED OAK EVERY YEAR. 
 
STANTON FRIENDS:  MEMBERS OF THE COMMITTEE AND SOME MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL MET WITH ARCHITECTS, ETC. LAST TUESDAY AT THE LIBRARY.
GOING TO OPEN UP THE BIDDING FIELD NOW.
NEED $20,000-$30,000 TO CLEAN UP THE FUNDRAISING.
 
PRESIDENT BRIAN SAID HE WAS CONTACTED BY JODI SMITH OF RED OAK’S CHAMBER ABOUT A REGIONAL TOURISM MEETING COMING UP IN CLARINDA ON FRIDAY, THE 11TH AT 1 PM TO DISCUSS SOUTHWEST IOWA TOURISM MARKETING.   YOU ARE INVITED TO ATTEND.
 
HE HAS HAD SOME INQUIRIES ABOUT “FRIDAY NIGHT LIVE”.  ARE WE GOING TO HAVE IT THIS YEAR AND IF SO WHEN?  DISCUSSION BUT NOTHING SET.
VARFEST RECAP: HELD SATURDAY MAY 5TH WITH 57 ATTENDING.  COST OF ENTERTAINMENT WAS $670.40 AND JERRY GILLILAND WAS GIVEN THE “OLE” AWARD.
THERE ARE LOTS OF HOUSES AND BUSINESSES FOR SALE IN TOWN – IF YOU WOULD HAVE ANY MARKETING IDEAS OR RECCOMENDATIONS PLEASE GET AHOLD OF BRIAN.
HAD A CALL FROM RED OAK CHAMBER ABOUT GOING TOGETHER ON AN ELECTRONIC RECYCLING PROJECT TO PICKUP OLD COMPUTERS, ETC.  DISCUSSION BUT NO MOVEMENT.
 
JOHN OLSON SCHOLARSHIP:  ROSIE MOVED THAT WE TRANSFER $50 SO THAT WE CAN GIVE 2 $100 SCHOLARSHIPS THIS YEAR.  HAROLD SECONDED IT AND THE MOTION PASSED.  RECIPIENTS THIS YEAR ARE ETHAN LANTZ AND DAKKOTA DRUIVENGA.
 
NEXT MEETING WILL BE MONDAY, JUNE 4TH AT SUSIE’S KITCHEN AT 6:30 P.M.   WE DO NOT MEET IN JULY AND AUGUST.
 
AT 7:45 P.M. ROSIE MADE THE MOTION TO ADJOURN AND ERIC ANDERSON SECONDED THE MOTION.  IT PASSED UNANIMOUSLY.
