Stanton is located seven miles east of Red Oak, at the intersection of Highway 34 and M63. Surrounding communities include Red Oak, Villisca, Griswold, Corning, Clarinda, Essex, and Shenandoah. Stanton is also about 50 miles from Council Bluffs.

 Viking Lake is located just four miles east of Stanton.
